"Such remarks fabricate facts and distort right and wrong, constituting blatant technological bullying and unilateral coercion. China firmly opposes them," Chinese FM spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday when asked to comment on allegations by some US officials on social media attacking Chinese technology companies, claiming that high-risk technologies from relevant Chinese companies could pose risks of espionage, cyberattacks and network disruptions, and urging the US' partners in the Western Hemisphere to swiftly turn to trusted suppliers to protect their citizens and national sovereignty.
Chinese technology companies offer advanced technologies, high cost-effectiveness, and safe and efficient services. When operating overseas, they strictly comply with the laws, regulations and industry standards of the countries where they operate, winning widespread recognition and favor from local partners and people, while making positive contributions to local economic and social development and employment. They are truly trustworthy suppliers, Lin said.
In fact, the US has long engaged in eavesdropping, surveillance and cyberattacks in Latin America and the Caribbean, making countries in the Americas feel unsafe and distrustful, Lin said.
"We urge the US to stop its political manipulation and stop interfering with the right of sovereign countries to independently choose their partners, and to do more things that contribute to the prosperity and stability of Latin America and the Caribbean," Lin said.
。    Islamabad, Oct 21 (UNI) A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Friday granted post-arrest bail to PTI leader Azam Swati in a case related to controversial tweets.
Special Judge Central Raja Asif Mehmood announced the verdict today which was reserved a day ago. The court directed Swati to deposit surety bonds worth Rs10,000.
PTI senator Azam Swati was taken into custody by the FIA's Cybercrime Wing (CCW) from his home in Islamabad on October 13 after registering a case against him over the tweets, according to Geo news reports.
At the previous hearing, Special Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi raised objections at the court’s jurisdiction and said this case should be transferred to the session court.
He said that the accused had given a hateful statement about the head of a state institution through the tweet.
The institution had no connection with the courts’ decisions, he said, adding the accused had used a provoking way against the state institutions at a public forum.
Swati had also admitted that during the investigation, Abbasi said.
In his concluding arguments, Swati’s counsel Baber Awan said that his client had used the right of freedom of expression through his tweet.
My client was tortured and humiliated during the custody, he alleged.
After listening to arguments, the court reserved the decision and adjourned the case till today.
